Middle TN Genealogical Society July 2017 Meeting

Nashville TN, Saturday, July 15, 2017 Time: 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm Location: Brentwood Public Library, 8109 Concord Rd, Brentwood TN 37027, off I-65 **Please note all remaining 2017 MTGS meetings will be held at Brentwood Library** OUR PROGRAM: “Middle Tennesseans in the Mexican War and Repatriating those Killed in Action at the 1846 Battle of Monterrey, California” OUR SPEAKER: We are pleased to present Derek Frisby, PhD , MTSU professor of history and international relations. He s a Middle Tennessee native, a United States Marine Corps veteran, a distinguished MTSU alumnus, as well as being a past recipient of a “Ruthie” award for being voted Favorite MTSU Professor. He has also appeared in The National Geographic Channel’s Civil War series, “Civil Warriors.” Dr. Frisby is currently working on a project to ultimately repatriate the remains of US soldiers killed and buried in Monterrey, using genealogy and DNA analysis. Many of these soldiers were Middle Tennesseans. Might YOU have an ancestor who served or perhaps died in the Mexican War? Join us and learn more about the Mexican War, the role Middle Tennesseans played in its outcome and perhaps how you can assist in this fascinating research project.
