The International Country Gospel Music Association (ICGMA) will hold its 50th Annual Gold Cross Awards Show in Columbia, Tennessee on Saturday, August 12, 7:30pm. The ICGMA moved the show and its annual convention to Columbia this year from Tyler, Texas where it had been held previously. In addition to the Gold Cross Awards Show, ICGMA will hold its Media Awards Show on Friday evening, August 12. Nominees for the ICGMA Gold Cross Awards include Gayla Earlene, Gina White, Shelia Lewis, Judy DeRamus and Melanie Walker for female artist of the year. Male artist of the year nominees are Chuck Hancock, Gary R. Smith, Dan Duncan, Tommy Smith and Mike Manuel. The ICGMA will recognize seventeen 2006 Gold Cross award winners, including Duo of the Year, Group of the Year, Comedian of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year. Previous ICGMA Gold Cross Award winners include the Fox Brothers, Dottie Rambo, Chuck Day, Billy Walker, Chuck Day, Margo Smith, the Babcocks, Willie Nelson, and Barbara Fairchild. The ICGMA shows are part of the 2006 International Gospel Music Fan Fest hosted by Columbia State Community College, the Middle Tennessee Visitors Bureau and other local organizations. As part of the Fan Fest, the U.S. Association of Gospel Entertainers and Musicians will present three shows daily at the Cherry Theater on Wednesday, August 9 and Thursday, August 10, as well as a Youth Event and Bluegrass Show at Maury County Park on August 12. The ICGMA takes the Cherry Theater stage with three shows on Friday, August 11 and two shows, including the Gold Cross Awards show on Saturday, August 12. The Fan Fest concludes on Sunday, August 13 with a church choir performance presented by the Maury County Red Cross.
